The Life and Death of Genevieve Hart

A novel I basically thought of writing a few months ago but never got around to actually making it. I was distracted. Anyway, Genevieve Hart is basically based on… well, me. Also, it’s companion song is If I Die Young. I know its obnoxious to write stories about yourself but I really need to get this out. It’s like a tell all of sorts, I guess, of my inner thoughts and dreams. Yes. I’m starting this now.

Moving fast enables us to build more things and learn faster. However, as most companies grow, they slow down too much because they’re more afraid of making mistakes than they are of losing opportunities by moving too slowly. We have a saying: “Move fast and break things.” The idea is that if you never break anything, you’re probably not moving fast enough.

No, my new year’s resolution did not include me abandoning my blog.

Hello, my lovelies. I’ve just been a tad bit busy with the new year and the new priorities (yeah, right) and the new schedule. I’m alive. I think I always say that. Um. What else? Nothing is actually happening in my life right now (when did anything ever happen, right?) except that my English teacher is back. I’d rather not talk about it on here because she’s a creepy ass mofo. Anyhow. Hello. Shall post more interesting things now. Eventually. I don’t know. I’m in my little bubble of fictional characters right now.

2012 To-Read List

Because my lists are what I am going to rely on this coming year. And this is all that I want to read for now.

  • Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
  • One Day by David Nicholls
  • The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
  • The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
  • The Mortal Instruments by Casandra Clare (except for City of Bones since I’ve read that already)
  • A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin

A Wishlist

  • A Greener Earth
  • A Sturdier Government
  • An Understanding People
  • A Magic Eight Ball

A Greener Earth » As I’ve stressed out so many times: a cleaner earth leads to a cleaner mind. Not to mention a cleaner heart and a clearer understanding but we’ll get to that later. For the last few months I’ve been trying to change my habits that cause harm to our planet like throwing things everywhere and using a lot of styro and plastic, and also, commuting. Yes. I’ve developed a habit of walking and it is absolutely refreshing because 1) it gives you the alone time you need like if you want to make up your mind or clear your head, and also, by thinking of that something you wouldn’t even feel like you’re walking several miles or so 2) you get to be as one with the environment. I don’t live in a place where there are a lot of trees but compared to most urban cities here in Metro Manila, I’m proud to say that Makati has a fair amount of greenery, and it’s beautiful. Why not embellish your city with natural beautifiers of the earth? and 3) Exercise. I swear, walking will do you wonders.

A Sturdier Government (An Understanding People) » Administrations should work as one because if it won’t work as one then the people wouldn’t work as one and there will be chaos. But no. Everyone just has to voice out their little side comments, right? So that power won’t be taken from them and so that what they gain from this power won’t be forced from them. This is how our government works, sadly. It’s full of people who can’t agree on anything. And their arguments are also freely shared by the media causing havoc in the society. The truth of the matter is that people need something to believe in and something to rely on. As a country, the people rely and believe in the government. And if the people see that their government can’t even function as a whole, then why function as a whole themselves? Monkey see, monkey do. Monkeys! The whole lot of us. When are we going to stop promoting peace using guns and toxic alliances? When are we going to stop thinking of just ourselves? When are we going to realize that it’s not about us at all?

A Magic 8 Ball » Most of us look to God for strength and answers. Sadly, God has his own time and for most of us, it takes a while before he sends back a reply to our various questions like “why, God, why?”. Actually, he does send answers. You just have to open your eyes to see it. I want a magic 8 ball because I want to try living with straight answers. Not all the time, but with little things like “am I going to buy this pair instead of that?”. I don’t want to ask God all of the questions. His has more messages in it than all of ours combined, probably. So I’m going to ask my magic 8 ball instead. And then I’m going to ask myself, eventually. Because we all need to ask ourselves what to do because the answer usually lies within us anyway.
